Family dog saves child’s life stranded in the wilderness
Victoria Bensch, three years old at the time wandered off into the wilderness one frigid February evening and got lost. Blue, the family’s Queensland Heeler stayed with Victoria throughout the night where the temperature dropped to below freezing.
When her parents realized Victoria was missing and sounded the alarm and authorities begin what turned out to be a lengthy, 15 hour search for the young girl. The sheriff’s office was quoted as saying of the incident, “The dog kept her alert, warm and gave her companionship throughout a very cold night.”
Victoria suffered some minor frostbite and had a few scrapes and scratches but otherwise was fine. Her furry friend came through the night unscathed. Three cheers for this heroic pooch who will have a best friend all throughout his hopefully long and blessed life.
